Lady of the Hour
This week we’re sharing a new type of recipe—a fun summer cocktail, garnished with our violas, and developed by our friend Kelly Pettit (@yellowbellykelly). You can view the making of this cocktail here on IG.
Kelly created this cocktail after visiting our Detroit garden to pick out her favorite edible flowers & herbs. Down below, find the ingredients list and method for creating the cocktail itself, as well as the homemade peach simple syrup. Additionally, you can shop the products Kelly uses in her cocktail videos via her online storefront.
Ingredients:
1.5 oz Empress Gin
.25 oz orange blossom water
.5 oz fresh lemon juice
.5 oz peach simple syrup (recipe below)
1 egg white
Method:
Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker and dry shake (without ice). Remove lid, add ice, and shake again for 7 seconds. Double strain into a coupe glass and garnish with Featherstone’s violas, or your choice of edible flowers.
——
Homemade Peach Simple Syrup:
Bring 1/2 cup water and 1/2 cup natural cane sugar to a boil in a small saucepan. Add peach slices (about half a peach). Boil for 5 minutes, simmer for 7 minutes. Let cool completely before using. Store in a sealed container and use within 2 weeks.
Find more of Kelly’s thoughtfully crafted cocktails here on TikTok & Instagram.
