Featherstone’s Heirloom Tomatoes
Our heirloom tomato plants have been getting bigger everyday and we are so excited to share them with our Detroit community once they’re fully grown and ready for harvesting. They will be available at our annual Summer Farm Stand, opening in July. Our newsletter subscribers will be the first to hear about the details, so be sure to subscribe if you’re not already.
Our Farm Fresh Culinary Subscriptions are Coming Soon!
Another launch to look forward to this summer is our Weekly Culinary Subscriptions! Starting in July, we will be bringing back our Weekly Stir Fry Subscription, and launching a new Weekly Cookie Subscription (aka Cookie Club!). Signup for both culinary subscriptions will be available on our website next week and there will be an early bird discount for those who signup within the first week. More details to come—including the Stir Fry & Cookie menus.
Tomato Plant Giveaway
This week, we announced our first official instagram giveaway! For a chance to win heirloom cherry tomatoes for your summer garden, you can enter our contest by commenting on this instagram post. Two winners will receive 3 heirloom cherry tomato plants that will cover your tomato needs all summer long—from bright and flavorful pasta sauces to bruschetta, or eat them fresh off the vine! Contest ends this upcoming Friday, June 10.
We’ll be sharing tomato garden tips and a few tomato recipes throughout the summertime on our Garden Goodness blog. Find our first tomato recipe of the season down below, and continue to check back during the summer months for new bi-weekly plant-centered recipes.
Tomato Toast w/ Mozzarella, Fresh Basil & Vegan Aioli

Yields: 1-2 servings
Ingredients:
2 thick cut pieces of sourdough, or your bread/vehicle of choice
a few spoonfuls of homemade vegan paprika aioli (Recipe here. Alternatively, you can serve with hummus or other spread of choice.)
sliced buffalo mozzarella (or sharp cheddar is a great alternative!)
2-4 thick slices of heirloom tomato (~2 slices per toast)
fresh basil leaves, torn
pinch of flaky salt & ground black pepper
Garnish Suggestions:
olive oil for drizzling (I’m using white truffle olive oil)
pinch of red pepper flakes
avocado
Directions:
Slather a generous layer of vegan paprika aioli (or alternative spread), thick cut slices of buffalo mozzarella and tomato on top of toasted bread.
Add fresh torn basil, additional garnishes of choice, pinch of salt & pepper, and a drizzle of olive oil to finish.
