Italian Herb Salad with Sunflower Seeds, Bulgur Wheat & Beets
#9: Featherstone's Weekly Salad Kit & Supplemental Recipe Share
Pictured above is everything you will be receiving in this week’s Winter Salad Kit.
This week’s salad features…
Featherstone greens, sunflower seeds, bulgur wheat, beets, & herbaceous italian dressing. In your kit you will find a recipe card to recreate our dressing at home, and you can find the detailed recipe post with recommended substitutions on the blog. To cook your bulgur wheat, we recommend checking out this recipe.
Please remember to wash all Featherstone produce before use. To maintain freshness, we do not wash produce at the garden.
This week on the Garden Goodness Blog…
Quick Pickled Beets
For this week’s supplemental recipe, we’re sharing a quick & simple way to make pickled beets at home! You can use this method to pickle all sorts of vegetables: cucumbers, asparagus, ginger, onions, and so on. Add a pickled element to any of your favorite dishes for extra flavor, nutrition & crunch.
Green Of the Week: Radish Shoots
We’re also serving up a new Green of the Week blog post on the nutritional benefits of radish shoots, a versatile and spicy microgreen.
Place Your Orders for All-Natural Homemade Bread!
Calling all bread enthusiasts! We’re thrilled to be collaborating with Detroit’s Chef Jessi Patuano who recently started a bread baking side-hustle called Well Worth the Weight. Jessi is a New York born transplant, cooking from the soul, here in Detroit. She has been working as a professional chef for the past 10 years and has grown to love everything there is about food. Her passion for bread was cultivated from an exploration of fermentation and rose in the warmth of curiosity. Without formal training as a baker, the pressure of competing with her peers was gone. She felt a freedom to explore and make mistakes without judgment. What she found in bread baking was peace and joy that she’s happy to share with you at your table.
Order bread from Chef Jessi and receive it with your weekly salad kit on 2/2/21!
All orders must be placed by this Thursday, January 28th by 5pm. View the menu & ordering details below.
